I thought I should bring you some background to the name of my blog "The path of the Outcast". I consider myself and every other visitor to my blog as a visitor to the Exodites. We stay with them for some time, get to know a little about them and then head back to our own life...Therefor becoming what the Eldar call an "outcast".
Progress this weekend on the Firehawk. I managed to pull off a considerabel good lava effect. I built up the colors form Vallejo Red Gore to a 50-50 mix of Sunburst yellow and pure white. For the next time I learned that I need less reds and more yellows.
Ooohhh..... failure. Tried to start with a yellow base to make really hot lava. Don't do it like this! Trust me. I am now on it again starting up from red- I have reached orange now and must say -that is a real pain(t) in the ass-color to paint by the way. Worse than Kinda frustrating right now. I will make a break and get some sushi.
Ha! As you know FTW is holding a contest- if you don't: shame on you! Go check it out there! I was very tempted to take part from reading the post on but I was not sure if I had something appropriate. It has to be 25 or 40mm base and I could not think about the model I would use until I took some photos of my WIP Firehawk. Everytime I build up my Photography set I think if there is anything else I haven't taken pictures off and so I looked around. And there it is- the base for my entry: Captain Stern of the Grey Knights! I painted him up some months ago to lead my Inquisitorial force and didn't find the time to base him then. Lucky me. A perfect start.
The infamous Void Dragon Corsairs have been a plague on Imperial trade routes and settlements. They are known to lend their sevices to Dark Eldar forces as well as those of the Craftworld Eldar. On occasion these raiders were also hired by Exodite worlds to fight a common enemy.
So I also changed the commenting system to disqus - anyone else havin roblem typing this word? Now I have to alter the size of my avatar to square- seemes disqus doesn't like my format and like this the smokingfly looks cropped- :p
As I saw the pictures of the new stegadon on Bell of Lost Souls I was wondering if I could incorporate him into my Exodite army. Actually I was more than just wondering- I am sure I will and that's how:
When beginning to paint I usually go to change clothes. The one reason is that I wear a suit when coming from work and the other is that I always- and I mean always- drop something sticky or painty when spending time on my hobby. Be it superglue, paint or even worse resin. I once ruined my new Levis when working on a clear river diorama- believe me from then on you can use that trouser for nothing else since this stuff can only be removed with a pair of scissors.
Today (it's sunday) I got dressed, decide to paint and didn't want to change again. So I went to the cellar and took out the cloak I used when I was painting my walls- why didn't I come up with this earlier?
After some research and coding I now have altered the Design so far as to have a second sidebar and the colors to match my army. I also worked out a banner which I quiet like.
edit: And I am now officially a proud member of the FtW Blogger group. Thanks go out to Ron Saikowsky for letting me in. Read his blog for extremely useful tips on everything related to our hobby. If you want to know what this is just follow the link on the right side.
