Primed and ready to go- or so I thought. As always the primed object shows all imperfections. I feared this moment of truth and decided to fix the flows where possbile. The sculpting of the canopy was less then optimal to say the least- It even showed a fingerprint - shame on me! Bad thing for me is that I only find out now after already having casting nine pieces. So I took out my sanding paper and removed the uneven parts. If you are interested I use a graining of 180 for the rough work and sand it down with 400 to get a smooth surface.

After some additional modeling work I think I am done with this fella. What did I change? I reworked the Lance to make it look more like a spear by cvarving it down. Although I din't succeed in removing the lance-feel to it, I think I can not do it any better right now- at least I have no idea how to. I also added an Eldar Rune for more 40k feeling. Another 40k bit was added to the riders right side: shuriken clips and a plasma grenade. This helps to conter the low tech feel of the shield I added. I decided that he can use weapon and shield since he steers the bike with his feet (surely no problem for skilled riders like Eldar). Speaking of it- I was pointed at the stirrups and reworked them as well. I removed a little of the leather strips and connected them to a piece of wire which I stuck through the bike after carefully drilling a hole in there. The bike's fins were decorated with two gems made of putty and the last thing I added was an atenna at the rear- not too sure about this bit.

I continued the work on the jetbike and warlock. I used plasticard for the fins of the bike- glued them in place with superglue and fixed it with brownstuff. The lance was reworked to look more like an eldar weapon by adding a gem and other detail. The upper torso got a cloak- not sure if I will continue with fabric on his lower body as well. I think the chainmail does the trick just right. Suggestions?

Warlocks have nothing to compensate!

Thanks to the good input of you fellow readers I altered the list quiet a bit.

The army is still centered around the Seer Council- in fact it got harder as I invested more points into them. My Farseer now has a Singing Spear and I gave him Spirit Stones so that he can use a second psychic power. I chose "Doom" so he can help the rest of the army to bring down a single unit efficently.
The Warlocks got another two Destructors (Heavy Flamers) since experienced reader suggested I need these to soften up big units before assaulting them (who am I to question them?). Although weaker units will be wiped out by this treatment there won't be an assault, that should be ok since I can jump back afterwards. Then I'm not engaged and can cast "Doom" in my following shooting phase (if I don not get countercharged that is).

Concerning my lack of firepower I exchanged the Falcons for Fireprisms. They should stand back and shoot at doomed units- cheap and annoying. Since I lost the transport capacity of the Falcons but wanted to stay 100% mechanized I equipped my infantry with Serpents. Their Forcefield seems to be better against Meltas when concidering the math- and those nasty weapons have the tendency to multiply since the introduction of the 5th edition.

To get the points for these investments I stripped the Firedragons down 5 man witout exarch and replaced the Dire Avengers for Assault Guardians. There are now at least two flamers who could help in last turn situations and against a doomed unit even the low strength of 3 could do some damage in closecombat.

Modelwise I have 4 Serpents, 2 Fireprisms, 30 Infantry and 9 Seer Jetbikes. That still looks accompishable (does this word exist?) and I have a good feeling about the playability.

What do you think: Is this better?

Since I started building Warlock Jetbikes my mid went into designing armyrosters as well. This is what I came up with. Not too many models, so I could possibly keep up the motivation to paint them. It's fully mobile and not verry innovative- but it could work.

What do you think?

Back in march I did a Bloodcrusher conversion using the bits of Dark Eld Coldone Knights and Bloodletters. (You can find them here). This left me with the riders still on their sprues. I plan on building my Exodite Dragon Knights based on the Dark Elf sprue at some point but need the Coldones for this- so what do I do with the Knight models I have?
I decided on building a mounted Seer Council for a standard Eldar army. Below you can find WIP shots of my first prototype. It is based on an Eldar Jetbike canopy which was remodeled with greenstuff and casr. The body of the bike is mainly a Dark Eldar Jetbike- since I will do a lot of chopping I also made myself a cast of the engine and seat part. Throw in the shuriken weapons, an Eldar Guardian head an blend the parts together with some brown and this is what you get.

To be continued...

These were made for a friend who has extended his Chaos Space Marine army. Originally made as Lava bases for a daemon army the mold these resin bases are cast from has soon after become popular with this design. You just gotta love the fluorescent colors from Vallejo.

Don't look directly into the green- your eyes might get hurt.

Catpeeler made the stones start rolling and I'm making plans for more daemon conversions. Games Workshop Ghouls should make a very fine starting point when following the concept of the bloodletter models.

Hooray! After long hours of searching I today stumbled over models which ressemble all the ideas I have for my Generic Daemons. My Dark Adeptus is in need of some daemon models for a long time but I couldn't point to what I was looking for until I stumbled over the work of Catpeeler on Dakkadakka. (Find his thread here) Thank you for this wonderfull idea- I will definetly use it for my army. So simple- yet so fitting.

Yes, I did it. Until yesterday I resisted and tried to act rational. I was arguing with other players on blogs on their feel towards the game and the price. But my mind was already looking for ways to justify the exorbitant investment of EUR 78,-

See- it's 12 Terminators and Genestealers in unique poses and you can play them with your Deathwing and you have a Tyranid army anyway... Besides they really look cool. And you never had the rules for Spacehulk- other boardgames are expensive too. Maybe you can get them on Maelstromgames with 15% off and even if not- shipping is free...

But what finally did it, was the thinking about the good times I had when playind Spacecrusade with my brother and friends when we were kids. Only this time I plan to paint them and my children will someday play it (if they care- but hey they got my genes- right?).#

On a sidenote: Anyone thought about the scale of the models yet? Who sais they are even 28mm heroic and thereby compatible to 40k?
edit: Thanks to G we found out- they are most likely in scale. (http://www.dicelikethunder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1486)

Since some people- Ron from FTW foremost told me that the blog was making problems while loading I began to research on it. I found out that the problem was not the template itself but my lightbox implementation. I have since then changed my template and now found the time to look for an alternative. I found it with Brightbox. It's friggin fast, quieet simple and relieves me from the need to alter all my picturelinks. The only drawback is, that it doesn't support galleries at the moment. Anyhow- if you experience problems with it please let me know.

I proudly present you my Vendetta Gunships. I have currently two of them assembled and partly painted(they even saw service in three tournaments already) but consider them still work in progress. The interiour is fully painted and weathered. This includes the cockpits since I needed them to be done before glueing the canopies on.
I consider this a minor conversion because I added magnetized Lasersponsons (made from Landraidersprue) and put a second gun on the right side of the nose for use as a twinlinked Lascannon. The paintjob features the two maincolorrs of my Steel Legion: Grey and Green as well as the white-red-white helmets and in this case canopy.
What has to be done now is the detail work on the outside. Highlighting on the armorplates, waethering and freehands for squadmarkings and a fitting pinup remain on my todo list.

If you have a nice picture of a pinup- tell me! I might just use it.
